In some ways, 2011 has been a tough year for HP. At the start of the year, the company’s laser manufacturing partner, Canon, had trouble keeping up with demand for some popular toner cartridges, and the two partners’ manufacturing difficulties and resulting product shortages grew worse after Japan was rocked by an earthquake in March.
