Actionable Intelligence Publishes Post Number 2,000

Earlier this week, Actionable Intelligence met a milestone when we published our two-thousandth post. This means our subscribers have access to a huge array of content. Each article includes tags and links to other articles, both of which allow readers to access other relevant content they may need with just a click of the mouse.

Of course, the Action-Intell.com website could not have surpassed this milestone without our team. In 2015, we gained the talents of two writers: Michael Nadeau, senior market analyst, who has been covering the 3D printing space (see “Michael Nadeau Joins Actionable Intelligence to Cover the Emerging 3D Printing Market”), and the experienced and knowledgeable freelancer Dan Headrick. The website also benefits significantly from Marisa Mogni’s freelance writing and editing. Melanie Merritt handles our social media. I thank my lucky stars for Melanie daily because I am apparently the only mother of young children on the planet who does not understand Facebook. Unfortunately, we said goodbye to two writers as well this year. Amy Weiss left us this fall (see “Actionable Intelligence Bids Fond Farewell to Amy Weiss”). And, in sad news for the whole industry, Tom Ashley passed away in August (see “Tom Ashley: A Remembrance by Charlie Brewer”). We wouldn’t have made the 2,000-post mark without the help of all these great individuals. (I especially miss Tom whenever a new patent suit comes along. How I wish I had Tom to talk to about Memjet v. HP. He would have loved that lawsuit!)

On a personal note, I find the 2,000-post milestone both exciting and a little scary. It is exciting because I never imagined back when Charlie and I launched Action-Intell.com in 2011 that the website would still be going strong nearly five years later. For that, I thank our loyal subscribers. The milestone is frightening because it makes me realize I have written an alarming number of articles about printer hardware and supplies. But, to be honest, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am sure many of you have had this same experience, but when you tell people from outside the printer and supplies industry what you do, they sometimes act like you have the most mind-numbingly boring job on earth. This always surprises me for half a second. “What? You don’t think this is interesting, too?” is my first thought. But over the years I have developed a perfect response—feel free to use it at your next holiday get-together with family and friends. Now, whenever someone says, “Printers and supplies. Isn’t that dull?” I say, “No, it is fascinating. In life, I have found that bright people have a unique capacity to become interested in anything.” And that usually shuts folks up for a bit.

In my years covering the industry, one thing has become abundantly clear. Those working in this industry don’t just find it interesting, they are passionate about it. And to be part of an industry filled with such obviously bright, passionate people makes me excited about its future. Here’s to the next two thousand posts!
