Canon’s first announcement about an Amazon toner cartridge removal was issued on September 7, 2018. As of July 31, 2019, Canon has issued 100 press releases about the removal of specific sellers’ Amazon Standard Identification Numbers (ASINs), plus three announcements with details about total takedowns to date in certain countries. Over time, Canon’s campaign to protect the patents it holds on toner cartridges from infringement by Amazon sellers has expanded to include seven countries, hundreds of sellers, and well over a thousand ASINs successfully removed.
Keeping track of the countries where these takedowns took place, the Amazon sellers impacted, the ASINs removed, the Canon patents being asserted, and the like can be challenging. But we have made it easy for you by compiling these takedowns, as well as our view of Canon’s strategy, all in one place.
This free report, downloadable as a PDF, covers all of Canon’s Amazon takedown announcements from when they first began on September 7, 2018, through July 31, 2019.
