A would-be class-action lawsuit filed by Mobile Emergency Housing Corp. and other plaintiffs against HP Inc. that accuses the printer vendor of violating the law by updating the firmware in its laser printers to prevent the use of third-party toner cartridges is still ongoing. However, HP just won a key skirmish in the broader fight.
